How to Format a Computer with Windows 10

To format your hard disk during Windows 10 installation, you need to start or boot your computer using the Windows 10 USB flash drive or installation disc.

Formatting your drive will delete all of the data on it and then remove the operating system. So make sure that you have any important files/data backed up to another location such as a cloud or external drive.

1. Turn on your computer so that windows starts normally
2. Insert Windows installation 10 USB or installation disc and then shut down the computer.
3. Press any key from the keyboard and follow the instructions that appear.
4. On the page "Please read the license terms". Accept the license terms and click next.
5. On the page "Which type of installation do you want?", click custom.
6. On the page "Where do you want to install Windows?", click Drive options (advanced).
7. Click the partition that you want to format and click enter
   1. If you have more than one partition on this hard drive, select a partition, click on the delete option for each partition.
   2. If all the partitions are deleted, then select unallocated space partition and click format.
8. 8. Follow the instructions to complete the installation such as naming your computer, setting up an initial user account.
